Super Delicioso Pancake at Privé Cafe, Keppel Bay, Singapore

Located on Singapore’s only private island – Keppel Island, Privé is a multi-concept F&B lifestyle venue encompassing a modern Grill, a Waterfront Bar, and a Café.

We went to this outdoor brunch cafe with cool automatic iPad-queuing system. One sunshiny day, good companies and absolutely delicious pancake - a recipe of perfect Sunday.

I'm not into the idea of gluttony and I've always missed the point as to why some restaurants choose to serve dessert in crazy big portion size. Note on Gossen's First Law, the Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility. First spoon tastes wonderful, second spoon tastes awesome, fifth spoon tastes average, tenth spoon tastes mediocre, and so on until it tastes the opposite of wonderful.

Too much of a good thing is never good. Gossen's Third Law speaks a lot of truth here, where scarcity is placed as the crucial precondition of economic value. So what I love about this cutely shaped pancake is that having just a plate is enough. It's not too spongy, moist but not too buttery at the same time. They put more sugar in the pancake mix so they taste sweet even before you pour the maple syrup on it.

See the menu here.

Classic pancake, banana and strawberry toppings. They offer two sauce selection: maple syrup and gula malaka. I picked maple syrup.

Moist and extremely sweet French Toast, banana and toffee, maple syrup. Uncomfortably sweet for my taste but I know some people'd truly love this level of sweetness.

This much is enough. Will be awesome if there's some crispy maple-coated bacon on the side.

Egg benedict with perfectly poached eggs. The Hollandaise, however, is too.......creamy. It covers all other tastes of the rocket and the bread. And the smoked salmon is very salty. If you like plain bread eaten with generous amount of butter you'll find this egg benedict tasty.

Ultimate Big Breakfast

Prawn Aglio olio, a classic-never-fail-never-disappoint lunch choice. It's quite spicy so if you can't handle the chili, remind the waiters to spare you some of the pain.

I find this teardrop shaped structure really fascinating. Unconventionally beautiful and very artsy, specially on this shiny day where the whole metal structure is brightly lit under the sun. Surrounded with clear, calm water with no ripple, the teardrop stands alone on its own, supported with no apparent frame supporting it underneath. Absolutely beautiful composition.

Found this teardrop design again near the maingate lobby. Is it the trademark of Keppel Bay?
