Spanish Delight at Catalunya, The Fullerton Pavilion, Singapore

Too bad we weren't equipped with the right camera for this one particular Spanish dinner at Fullerton Pavilion. The place, the restaurant and its surrounding, is purely exceptional. It's a rounded doughnut shaped building situated right at the opposite of Marina Bay Sands. Yes, tall glass windows to let diners enjoy the complete view of magnificent MBS light at sunset and nighttime.

Let me post some beautiful images of this restaurant captured by people on the net.

Yeap, that's the doughnut structure I'm talking about. It's pretty isn't it? Reservation is at least one week in advance, because me and other friends tried to do walk-ins for a few times and we both got politely denied entry (said to be full house).

Been here twice, and for both occasions the tapas style appetisers are exceptionally good. Totally worth the price tag and small serving size. You should definitely order the Bikini ($20), a ham and truffle sandwich with crisp exterior and distinct melt-in-your-mouth cheese-truffle consistency.

The deep fried Calamares ($18) is so so. Patatas Bravas ($10) is a must, as I think this super simple appetiser truly marks the difference between authentic Spanish dining experience and the more-fusion style tapas. Some Spanish cuisine adaptation in Jakarta that I've gone to actually fails to present this seemingly simple light fingerfood...

Top it with smokey Foie Gras and Eel Escalibada ($20) to share, otherwise the dish can be too filling for your hungry stomach (remember that it's only a starter). Every ingredient they use in this dish melts in your mouth. I prefer to still have a bit of something crunchy or flaky to combine with the rich foie gras. Avocado Roll ($22) is also normal, can't really taste the lobster anyway because of the avocado, and the whole sushi piece is too soft for my personal liking.

See the menu here.

Patatas Bravas Allioli and special Catalan sauce $10

Foie Gras and Eel Escalibada $20

Deep fried Aubergine seasoned with black olive miso $12

I was like, what's an Aubergine? Find out that it's an eggplant, really. I love Japanese style miso eggplant for its sweetness and tender flesh, but trying the same ingredients used in Spanish style eggplant gives a unique experience.

Signature Roasted Segovian Style Suckling Pig $135

Nearly all diners come to this restaurant to order the suckling pig, so you should too. Can fit the stomaches of 4-5 people considering one person have 1-2 pieces of this roasted piglet. I feel sad whenever I see the pictures because the pig looks so cute from the side. But it's so delicious.. Roasted perfectly, you'll see the waiter "separates" the extremely tender meat in front of you using a small plate, not knife. After that, feel free to smash the plate to the floor and have the cheers and applause from other diners.

Roasted Pineapples with spices $12
The perfect companion of the roast suckling pig. Have them both together for a balanced flavour of suckling pig juice and pineapple's sweetness. The aromatic spice bridges the two distinct taste and bring them in great harmony.

Roasted Lamb Ribs with special Catalunya gravy $55

Torrija $14
Soft and sweet warm bread with smoked milk ice cream. An all time's favourite! We vow to get this dessert over and over again as long as we breathe every time we visit Catalunya.

Creamy Rice and Milk Pudding $12

I love cinnamon! This lightly-textured rice pudding is heavily infused with cinnamon sugar, which gives a perfect end to my delightful Spanish dining experience here. Great food, great company, thank you God.
